Polestar wirft im Vorfeld der COP28 ein Schlaglicht auf Klima Des- und Fehlinformation

GÖTEBORG, SCHWEDEN - 23. November 2023. Polestar hat den Polestar Truth Bot gestartet. Der Bot wurde speziell für X (ehemals Twitter) entwickelt und soll dazu beitragen, die häufigsten Unwahrheiten in Bezug auf den Klimawandel in der Automobilindustrie zu entlarven.

 

Die Initiative wurde aufgrund zunehmender Fehl- und Desinformationen auf Social-Media-Plattformen rund um das Klima ins Leben gerufen. Forschende haben wegen des Anstiegs von "Klimaleugner-Bots"1 Alarm geschlagen und die Vereinten Nationen warnen, dass Fehl- und Desinformationen "dringende Maßnahmen zur Sicherung einer lebenswerten Zukunft für den Planeten verzögern"2. Ein Bericht von Climate Action Against Disinformation zeigt, dass X von den fünf wichtigsten Social-Media-Plattformen am schlechtesten abschneidet, wenn es darum geht, die Verbreitung von Fehlinformationen einzudämmen3.

Fredrika Klarén, Head of Sustainability bei Polestar, kommentiert: "Der vorsätzliche Missbrauch von Klimadaten ist unglaublich schädlich. Besonders jetzt, im Vorfeld der COP28, ist die Diskussion zwischen Fakten und Fiktion verworren.“

Im Vorfeld der COP28 wird der Polestar Truth Bot vom 23. bis 30. November live auf X auf Klimamythen mit sachlichen Daten reagieren. Die Daten stammen unter anderem aus dem aktuellen IPCC-Sonderbericht "Impacts of global warming of 1.5 °C" und dem IEA-Bericht "The Role of Critical Minerals in Clean Energy Transitions".

 

Seit 2020 veröffentlicht Polestar Lebenszyklusanalysen (LCA) für alle sich in Produktion befindenden Modelle. Die Analyse umfasst einen detaillierten Bericht über Emissionen und Klimaauswirkungen, Informationen über die Materialbeschaffung und die Rückverfolgbarkeit der Lieferkette. Zu Beginn des Jahres 2023 initiierte Polestar zusammen mit Rivian den Pathway-Report von Kearney, der eine gemeinsame Anstrengung für kollektive Klimaschutzmaßnahmen innerhalb der Automobilindustrie vorsieht. Polestar wird am 6. Dezember eine Diskussionsrunde mit dem Titel „Global Automotive Stocktake“, abhalten, was ein weiterer Beitrag zur Transparenzdebatte während der COP28 sein wird.
