Polestar Gallery concludes with Dylan Martinez

ANTWERP, BELGIUM – 1 DECEMBER 2023. Polestar, the Swedish premium electric car brand, presents Polestar Gallery, an initiative providing a platform for local designers to exhibit their work in Polestar Spaces around Belgium. Contemporary glass artist Dylan Martinez concludes the year at Polestar Antwerp.

Following the successful exhibitions of Thibeau Scarcériaux in Polestar Brussels, Casimir & INDERA in Polestar Hasselt, and Nicolas Zanoni in Polestar Ghent, it is now Dylan Martinez's turn to conclude with 'Transparency in innovation' in collaboration with Forwart Gallery at Polestar Antwerp.

 

Contemporary glass artist Dylan Martinez is renowned for his glass sculptures that bring alternative perspectives and illusionary techniques to life, reflecting his commitment to transparency in addressing climate change. In the 'Transparency in innovation' exhibition, he presents hyper-realistic glass sculptures of plastic bags filled with water. The thoughtful arrangement of these sculptures creates powerful symbolism that leaves a deep impression on the audience both emotionally and visually. In this context, the "plastic bags" represent aspects of human consumption, waste production, and the harmful impact of plastic on our planet.

​Dylan Martinez, born in 1985 in Wisconsin, is an American contemporary glass artist currently residing and working in the state of Washington. His glass sculptures, inspired by his color blindness and fascination with perception, explore the boundary between reality and illusion. With an artistic focus on illusionary methods, Martinez has gained international recognition, exhibiting his work in the United States, Italy, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Taiwan. He interned in Murano, Italy, a region renowned for its high-quality artisanal glass art. His work challenges viewers to explore the boundary between reality and illusion, asserting that our desires often overshadow our true perception of reality.
